There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in BSN. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Leones on the court of Aguada on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by Aguada 91-70. Aguada outrebounded Ponce 40-28 including a 31-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Aguada looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Ponce's players. The former international point guard Alexander Abreu (179-1991, college: UWG) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 assists. Nigerian-American center Chinanu Onuaku (207-1996, college: Louisville) contributed with 14 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American center Royce Hamm Jr. (206-1999, college: UNLV, agency: MSG) replied with 15 points and 9 rebounds for Ponce. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Another interesting game for Guaynabo which played on the court of Bayamon. Guaynabo won 87-79. The former international Jaysean Paige (188-1994, college: WVU) scored 39 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson chipped in 20 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Panamanian forward Tony Bishop (202-1989, college: Texas St., agency: 011 Sports) responded with 17 points and 9 rebounds. Vaqueros' coach rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Guaynabo will play against Carolina at home in the next round where they are favorite. Bayamon will play against Caguas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
A very close game took place in Manati between Osos and Atleticos. Osos got a very close home victory over Atleticos. Osos managed to escape with a 2-point win 99-97 on Friday evening. Sheldon Mac notched 30 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort. Even a double-double of 24 points and 12 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) by Jamorko Pickett did not help to save the game for San German. Atleticos' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Osos will meet Santurce on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Atleticos will play against Mayaguez and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
In the last two games of round 2 Santurce was beaten by Carolina on the road 96-92. Arecibo won against Quebradillas on its own court 87-84.
The most impressive performance of 2nd round was 28 points and 5 assists by David Stockton of Arecibo.
